History of U.S. Military Aircraft

The aviation industry initially kicked off with the Wright Brothers' invention of the world's very first powered aircraft, with it's first successful flight in December of 1903. This essentially started a really good foundation to build off of for the future.

The Wright Brothers' dedication and creativity is what sparked new ideas for generations to come, their overall impact led to the continuing innovation and development of aviation for good.
The early era of jet aircraft started coming into play around the 1940's, the first jet being used by the U.S. military was the 1945 P-80 Shooting Star, by Lockheed. From that point on, aviation continued to develop and improve over time.
